Neil also succeeded in becoming the #1 residential agent for Downtown Los Angeles, representing buyers, sellers and developers in this rapidly progressing niche market.Having moved to LA from New York City, Neil always felt drawn to the cities' urban center, and has kept a watchful eye for signs of revival and renewal.He has personally invested in various Downtown properties because he sees the momentum of a positive force for change and a major renaissance in the LA metropolitan area.
A resident and homeowner of Windsor Square in the Greater Hancock Park area, Neil has been active in community service and organizations that include the Windsor Square Park Historical Society and his homeowners' association.Neil feels a passion for architecture, and has a major interest in the preservation and restoration of historic and architectural buildings in the communities and neighborhoods of Greater Los Angeles.
Originally a native of Worcester, Massachusetts, Neil is a graduate of Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York, and in addition, he earned an MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Management in Glendale, Arizona.
Neil's renaissance family is likewise entrepreneurial.His wife, Beate Kessler McDermott, is the chief designer of her own women's line of couture Bridal, Evening, and Cocktail attire clothing under the "Beate Couture" label. Neil and Beate are proud parents of three accomplished daughters -Merrill, Hannah, and Katie. The eldest, Merrill, is a recent graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and currently an Associate at the Center for American Progress, a top-rated political "think tank" in Washington, D.C. Hannah, their middle daughter, is currently in her senior year at Immaculate Heart High School and will enroll at Vassar College in the Fall.The youngest, Katie, is attending Immaculate Heart in 9th grade. She is an accomplished ballet dancer and plans to pursue a career with a professional ballet company.
